Ready for a solo travel?
Commercial flights are paving the way for economic recovery in the battle against COVID-19. But while these air services are up and running in the Philippines, the national government cautions the public to practise responsible travel by first checking if the destinations they plan on flying to have existing COVID-19 travel restrictions for Filipinos. This is in addition to knowing the individual’s qualifications to travel during the pandemic.
On 21 Jun 2020, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said they have been receiving queries about which places Filipinos can travel to at this time. In response, the DFA on Facebook released the updated list of countries that have travel restrictions for Filipinos. They include places in the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

“Travelers, even with valid visas or confirmed flights, should consult with relevant Embassies or Consulates of the destination country and ports of transit before booking the ticket,” the DFA also announced in the Facebook post. “It is always best to check ahead of travel dates with the airlines that will be used for departure.” They noted that the list can change without prior public notice, but that they will strive to modify the advisory as necessary.
Furthermore, travel restrictions for individuals flying to the Philippines remain in full effect. As of writing, only returning Filipino residents, travellers with official or diplomatic visas to the country, and foreign spouses and children may enter the Philippines subject to mandatory quarantine requirements upon arrival.
