Spice Up Your Instagram Feed With These 7 Beautiful Spots in Taguig

Contributed by Laag ni Josh

Are you looking for some places to spice up your Instagram feed? If you live in Metro Manila, you don’t actually have to go far to find some really cool places. In fact, only a hop, skip, and step away in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig are a few awesome sites that look like you’re in a foreign country. You don’t need a passport to capture images that will add colour to your feed. These are based on my personal image criteria though.

Also known as Global City, BGC, or The Fort, the city’s financial district used to be the Philippine Army’s main camp and was sold to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). The BCDA, in partnership with top developers, including Ayala Land and Megaworld, converted the then military camp into one of the country’s premier districts.

Posh commercial establishments and residential condominiums, including Serendra and Bellagio, stand in BGC. Some of the country’s major schools, University of The Philippines and De La Salle University, have also recently inaugurated their campuses at the district’s University Parkway. Several multinational companies are reportedly set to relocate their headquarters too.

Okay, enough of the background, let me proceed and discuss the places that would make your feed more exciting.

1. Bonifacio High Street

The first retail street concept in the country owned by Ayala Malls, Bonifacio High Street features many retail stores (including Old Navy and American Eagle), restaurants, and entertainment shops, among others, on its 1-km stretch boulevard. It also boasts beautiful landscapes and architectures.

Art works, which include movie-themed ones, are showcased at its central park which customers can interact with.

Flagship stores here are built perfectly. So much so that your IG followers will think you captured these images abroad. The best spot to capture IG-worthy images is the area along 7th Avenue. This is where some movie- and event-themed arts are featured.

2. Forbes Town Center

Forbes Town Center, located a few metres from Bonifacio High Street, contains residential condominiums, bars and restaurants, and a small park. Tipsy Pig is among the most frequented bars in the community.

Its park gives off a Singapore-like feel, while some restaurants make you imagine you’re in Europe.

3. Uptown Bonifacio

Located north of the city, Uptown is a newly-commercialised area which houses a mall, several clubs, bars and restaurants.

Construction of high-rise office and residential buildings are underway here, too. Best to capture images at night outside Valkyrie, the Palace.

4.  The Globe Tower

Located in the intersection of 32nd and 7th Avenue, Globe Tower also features some movie-themed art works.

Although this happens rarely, it’s worth checking the building out if you’re favourite movie is on the cinemas. You never know, your fave movie is the fave of the owners, too. 🙂

5. McKinley Hill

Owned by Megaworld Corporation, McKinley Hill is home to a graceful Mediterranean environment. Venice Grand Canal Mall is one of the most visited places here because of its Venice-inspired theme.

You don’t have to visit Italy to experience Italian sights and food. And oh, Italian music is also played here.

6. Its skyscrapers

The city houses various skyscrapers, including residential condominiums and hotels. Grand Hyatt Residences and Hotel, with a stories reaching to 45 and 66, respectively, are built here.

Further, Shangri-La at the Fort, a 62-storey skyscraper which features a hotel and serviced residences, also stands in the city.

7. Or just anywhere

The city is also home to various street art. The best thing about these is that they’re FREE.

Also, you can always point and shoot anywhere as the city is clean. If your office or residence is facing the Manila Bay, its a perfect spot for a sunset shot so long as there are no buildings blocking your view. Its northern side is perfect for sunrise photos as well.

These locations may not be new to many. I wrote this for the sake of those who are yet to visit the city. If you are new in the metro, BGC is located between EDSA and C5. Still not familiar? Google Maps is available 24/7.
