Our favourite places to stay on this sleepy Cebu island.
f there is one place in Cebu that feels straight out of a tropical daydream, it is Kawasan Falls. Tucked away in the town of Badian, this iconic natural gem is known for its turquoise waters, jungle-lined trails, and pulse-racing outdoor adventures. Whether you are after laid-back swimming or full-on cliff jumping, Kawasan is a must.
This guide walks you through how to get there and everything you can do once you arrive.

From Cebu City
Head to the Cebu South Bus Terminal and board a Ceres bus with a route going to Bato via Barili. The ride usually takes around three to four hours and costs about ₱150 to ₱160. Tell the conductor you are going to Kawasan Falls so they can let you off at the right stop in Badian.
If you prefer more comfort or flexibility, you can book a private van or taxi. This option is more expensive, usually ranging from ₱2,000 to ₱2,500, but ideal if you are travelling in a group.
From Moalboal
If you are staying in Moalboal, Kawasan Falls is only about 45 minutes away. You can hire a motorbike or tricycle for a quick and easy trip. Alternatively, catch a local bus from the highway near town. Once in Badian, a short forest trail leads to the falls. You will hear the sound of rushing water long before you see it.

Canyoneering Adventure
This is the highlight of any trip to Kawasan. The guided canyoneering tour takes you through rivers, jungle paths, rock slides, and a series of jumps into clear blue pools. Some cliffs are small, others reach up to 40 feet. Everything is optional, and safety gear is provided. The route ends at the main falls, which is the perfect grand finale.
Swimming in the Main Pool
If you prefer a slower pace, the base of Kawasan Falls is perfect for swimming. The water is refreshingly cool and incredibly clear. There are shallow areas where you can float around and take it all in.
Bamboo Raft Ride
For ₱300, you can rent a bamboo raft and ride under the main cascade. Local guides will pull the raft using ropes. It is a unique way to experience the falls up close and feel the power of the water pouring down.
Explore the Upper Levels
There is more than just one waterfall. Hike up to the higher levels to find smaller falls and natural pools with fewer visitors. The trail is manageable and worth it if you are craving a bit of quiet after the busy main area.
Photography
With the lush greenery, dramatic cliffs, and unreal water colour, Kawasan is made for photos. Bring a waterproof case for your phone or use an action camera to document the whole experience. Early morning is the best time to beat the crowds and catch softer light.
Food and Local Eateries
After your adventure, grab something to eat at the local carinderias near the jump-off point. They usually serve grilled meat, rice meals, pancit, and refreshing drinks. It is simple food, but nothing hits the spot like a warm meal after a full day of exploring.

• Start early in the day to avoid intense heat and large crowds
• Wear proper shoes that can handle slippery rocks and water
• Pack a dry bag, towel, and extra clothes
• Apply reef-safe sunscreen, and try not to apply it just before jumping in to help keep the waters clean
Kawasan Falls is not just a pretty place to visit. It is an adventure that mixes nature, excitement, and total relaxation. Whether you are jumping off cliffs or lounging in the water, this spot delivers an experience you will not forget.
