Tucked away in the wild green heart of Mindanao is a place that looks like it belongs in a film about daring explorers. It’s called the Kiokong White Rock Wall, and if you’re into offbeat adventures, this massive limestone cliff in Quezon, Bukidnon might just be your new obsession.
We're talking about vertical camping on the side of a cliff. Yes—camping on a cliff.

Kiokong is part of the Kiokong Eco-Tourism Project in Bukidnon. The star attraction? A towering 180-metre limestone wall that draws in climbers, campers, and adrenaline junkies from all over. It’s not your average tourist spot—you won’t find fancy resorts or frappes here. What you will find is raw, unfiltered nature and a whole lot of thrill.

The wall itself is a climber’s dream, with routes that range from moderate (grade 5) to properly challenging (up to 8b). Most climbs land somewhere in the 6b to 6c range, which means it’s got something for everyone—from weekend warriors to seasoned rock jocks.
You’ll need a 60 to 80-metre rope, plenty of quickdraws, and a healthy respect for heights. And don’t worry if you’re not a pro—local guides can walk (or climb) you through it.

Here’s where it gets even wilder. Kiokong is home to the Philippines’ first and only vertical bivouac experience. What’s that, you ask? Imagine hauling yourself up a cliff face, then spending the night strapped into a portaledge suspended hundreds of feet above the forest floor.
It’s as mad as it sounds—and that’s exactly why it’s brilliant.
Sunsets hit differently when you’re dangling above a forest, and waking up to mist rolling over the mountains might just ruin regular camping for you forever.
Prices hover around ₱9,000 (roughly £130), which usually includes your guides, equipment, and meals. It’s not pocket change, but for a once-in-a-lifetime experience? Worth every peso.

After you’ve conquered the wall (or just marvelled at it from below), head to the nearby Blue Water Cave. This natural gem hides a surreal blue-green pool that’s perfect for a post-climb dip. It’s refreshing, a little mystical, and surprisingly chill compared to the adrenaline rush of the rock wall.

Kiokong White Rock Wall is located in Barangay San Jose, Quezon, Bukidnon. It’s about a 5-hour drive from Davao City and visible from the Davao-Bukidnon highway bridge—so you can’t miss it. Hiring a local driver or joining a guided trip makes things heaps easier, especially if you’re not familiar with Mindanao roads.
Book early, especially if you’re eyeing that vertical bivouac spot. They fill up fast.
Pack light but smart—think climbing shoes, gloves, sunblock, bug spray, and a powerbank.
Respect the locals and nature—this spot is sacred to many and protected for a reason.
Kiokong isn’t for the faint of heart—but that’s exactly what makes it unforgettable. If your idea of fun includes dangling off cliffs, sleeping under a blanket of stars, and discovering a wilder side of the Philippines, then it’s time to pin this one on your travel map.
So… are you brave enough to sleep on the side of a cliff?
