Annyeong! Did you know that this word, along with countless others in the Korean language, is being learned a lot in the Philippines? So much that it makes Korean the most studied language by Filipinos. This is supported by a study done by WordTips, an online word finder platform.
In the findings published on their website, data reveals that among 26 countries in Asia and Oceania, the Philippines has a huge number of locals who are wanting to learn, if not already learning, Korean. It shares this with only three other nations. They are Brunei, Nepal, and Singapore. Asia, here, does not include the Middle East and Central Asia.

Not surprisingly, English is the most popular language to learn in 14 of those countries, which include Cambodia, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka. Japanese comes in second, and is being learned the most by nationalities of Australia, Bhutan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan. The second most popular language to study in the Philippines is also Japanese.
The study by WordTips also reveals that English is the most studied language in a total of 98 countries globally. Meanwhile, those in English-speaking countries are most interested in studying Japanese. Furthermore, Ukraine got a shoutout for being the country with, most notably, a large number of its residents wanting to learn its local language.

To come up with these conclusions, WordTips mainly used available online data. “We used Google’s Keyword Planner to find the number of searches for ‘learn x language’ (translated into different languages) in every country from May 2020 to May 2021. And we mapped the most popular language to learn around the world,” it said.
