Here’s How You Can Travel to Baguio Without Actually Having to Go There

For those of us who live far away from the country’s Summer Capital, it’ll probably take quite some time before we can finally set foot there (without the need for pricey requirements and stringent protocols) once again.

But what if we told you that you could travel to Baguio without actually having to travel to Baguio? We’d leap at the chance, if you asked us; and fortunately, it is indeed possible.

Old Baguio Cafe, whose original branch is based in Baguio City, offers Metro Manila residents a piece of Baguio right within Quezon City. The cafe, located in Kalayaan Centrepointe Bldg. in V. Luna, officially opened its doors in July 2020 — just when many of us were itching to travel to the City of Pines again.

It is with pride that the cafe, OBC for short, offers “everything you crave from the City of Pines,” from Baguio’s iconic flavours to local crafts that hail from the Cordillera region. Whether it’s fresh strawberries and ube jam or bamboo plates and mugs, OBC has got you covered.

Their lineup even boasts some of the city’s most sought-after products: Good Shepherd ube jam, angel cookies, and snowballs; Vizco’s strawberry shortcake, mango cake, and ube cake; Baguio Country Club banana bread and raisin bread; and Victoria’s Bakery cream puffs. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

The Cordilleran dining experience

For those who wish to dine in (and yes — they offer al fresco dining!), OBC is happy to provide their customers with a taste of native Cordilleran dishes. Their pinikpikan and sauteed kinuday are among their must-try menu items. As for dessert, you won’t want to miss out on their strawberry taho or strawberry champorado.

To add to all this, OBC also serves tsokolate de batirol, iced batirol, and syphon coffee made with premium Arabica beans from Atok, Benguet. As a bonus to coffee lovers, they sell their beans in 250g, 500g, and 1kg bags, too!
