In 2024, overtourism took centre stage. With many popular destinations struggling to cope with the influx of visitors, 2025 only promises more travels to underrated spots. In a recently inaugurated list, 25 must-visit destinations for 2025 have been revealed, with a focus on places that welcome visitors with open arms while still prioritising sustainability. This list provides valuable insights for travellers seeking authentic and enriching experiences beyond the usual tourist hotspots.
Topping the list is the Caribbean island of Dominica, renowned for its lush rainforests, volcanic landscapes, and diverse marine life. Dominica has taken a significant step towards sustainable tourism by establishing the world's first-ever sperm whale reserve, offering visitors the unique opportunity to swim with these magnificent creatures responsibly.
What's more, the island has also witnessed significant infrastructure improvements, including the launch of digital immigration systems and a new cable car connecting the Roseau Valley with the Boiling Lake. These developments enhance accessibility and improve the overall visitor experience while minimizing the environmental impact.
