Travelling to Taiwan visa-free for Filipino passport holders will soon be possible once again. The Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) announced that they will reinstate visa-free travel for a number of countries, including the Philippines, starting 29 Sep 2022 until 31 Jul 2023. So if you want to travel to Taiwan in the near future, we’ve got details that you might need!

On 22 Sep, the BOCA announced that Taiwan will resume its visa-free entry for Filipino passport holders. This announcement comes after the temporary suspension of their visa-exempt program for Filipinos last 12 Sep 2022.
Only Filipinos with an ordinary passport are eligible for this visa-free privilege. Holders of diplomatic and service passports, as well as travellers who are using emergency, temporary, or other informal passports and travel documents, are excluded from this program.
To enter Taiwan visa-free, Filipinos must present the following:
Tourists who travel visa-free can stay in Taiwan for a maximum of 14 days. As of writing, you may not extend your stay beyond this.
The government also requires travellers to undergo a three-day quarantine inside their accommodations for COVID-19 prevention. Travellers should also adhere to the one-person-per-room policy for at least four days as a part of a “self-initiated epidemic prevention” required by the government. So, if you wish to enjoy Taiwan soon, take the quarantine period into account. It is part of the 14-day travel period, so keep this in mind when planning your visit!
Now that the Taiwan visa-free privilege is reinstated just in time for the end of the year, Filipinos can enjoy the cool climate from January to March. Taiwan’s intuitive public transport, along with their delicious food, still remains as attractions for both first-time and returning travellers to the country.
