Marikina City is a city of contrasts — history and modernity coexist together in perfect harmony. It may be best loved for its homegrown cafes and big shopping centres, but it is also home to charming pockets of nature. Looking for a refreshing spot in the metro? Step into the Marikina River Park for a breath of fresh air, exciting attractions, and fun activities! Whether you’re seeking a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of the city or a day of leisurely fun with family, this park has something for everyone.

Nested right in the heart of Marikina, the Marikina River Park is a delightful gem amid the city’s buzzing urban landscape. The park stretches along the banks of, well, the Marikina River and covers a whopping 220 hectares! This makes it one of the biggest urban parks in Metro Manila, like the ever-so-popular Luneta Park and Quezon Memorial Park.
With its collection of smaller open spaces, trails, and recreational facilities, the park invites you to unwind and look away from your screen. You can stroll along the river’s edge, admire scenic views, go biking, or enjoy a boat ride, which makes for a cute romantic date! The park is also dotted with picnic areas, where families gather to have a relaxing lunch out in nature.

What’s more? The Marikina River Park features tons of other interesting attractions that are definitely worth checking out. Over at the skating rink (arguably the largest in the country), you’ll spot local skateboarders and cyclists showing off their tricks. The Filipino-Chinese Friendship Pagoda is also a nice resting place with tiny eateries nearby. And, for more shopping and dining, the Riverbanks Centre is not one to be missed.

The Marikina River Park is more than just a place for recreation and relaxation, though. It’s also the city’s major hub for exciting cultural activities! Throughout the year, it hosts a wide range of events — from music festivals and carnivals to food bazaars and weekend markets. So, no matter what time of the year, it brings people together for a day of fun and entertainment!
At night, this riverside park turns into a dazzling spot for a taste of the metro nightlife! With its glittery lights and calming river views, it makes for the perfect hideout after the sun goes down. And when you’re feeling starved, there are tons of delicious dining options: from food stalls serving up local bites to upscale restaurants to bars and small clubs.
