Hoping to make Sagada more affordable for backpackers, the municipal government decided to cut accommodation packages to friendlier rates. Ratios for accommodations are also in place, with most lodges and inns having a 1:7 up to 1:10 room-to-guest ratio. This will help prevent booking two rooms for excess visitors.
Tourists can also expect lower tourist guide rates. And similar to accommodations, Sagada’s local government enacted the same ratios for guide-to-tourists. This ratio applies to destinations and activities in Sagada, except for cave spelunking.
Cave tours will remain at a 1:5 guide-to-tourist ratio to ensure that spelunkers have ample lighting when exploring Sagada’s caves. The ratio is also projected to lessen injuries inside the caves.
Finally, Sagada’s local government dropped the pandemic registration requirements to enter the town. These include pre-registration QR codes, vaccination cards, and negative test results from the coronavirus. The only payment that tourists should settle upon entrance to Sagada is the environmental fee (₱100).
