Our favourite places to stay on this sleepy Cebu island.
A big chunk of my time is spent living in the sleepless Makati City. Born and raised in Quezon City, I can’t deny that Makati has also taken the shape of what feels like home to me. Undeniably, one of the best things about living in a new city is exploring new places and seeking out new experiences. My favourite thing to do in Makati? Discovering new cool hangout spots, no doubt! One of my recent finds: Silong Lounge, a hidden bar tucked away in Salcedo Village. Shall we take a peek?

Hidden bars have a reputation for not only having that “exclusive” element to them but for having entrances that are pretty tough to find. Silong is no exception. I’ll admit it: I always pass by the street where it is located but have never really thought much of it. For starters, its entrance leads you to a dingy parking garage — nothing too exciting, right? But further inside, you’ll be transported to one of Salcedo’s best-kept secrets!

When you enter Silong, you’ll be greeted by a red carpet hallway with vintage frames hanging by its walls. It’ll lead you to a dimly lit room decorated with a mix of vintage and modern furnishings. Here, you can sit by the bar and watch the baristas work their magic or relax among its cosy couches with a drink in hand. A typical evening in Silong usually comprises live jazz music, excellent cocktails, and overall great vibes.

As for its bar menu, Silong offers a variety of craft cocktails and all sorts of classic liquors. Some of its crowd-faves include Pacita, an ube-infused cocktail, and bittersweet concoction Anita. Tummy rumbling? Its selection of pizzas is an absolute must-try! You can also opt for quick bar chows like vegan samosa, calamari, classic fries, and more. Now, who’s ready to soak up a night of pure bliss and indulgence?
