Visiting Tagaytay soon? You may now use the newly opened portion of the Tagaytay Bypass Road project, which will make travelling within and near the city easier and faster!
Inaugurated on 21 Oct 2020, the 1.54-kilometre stretch comprising the Maitim and Kaybagal section is part of the 8.59-kilometre four-lane road project that aims to decongest Tagaytay traffic. The latter also covers works on concrete pavement, adding road signs, and installation of safety devices.
“The opening of these two (2) sections is only the beginning as we have been prioritizing the inclusion of Tagaytay Bypass Road Project in the national budget since 2018,” said Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. VillarSecretary Villar, who also led the recently concluded inauguration.

Now open to all travellers and other motorists, the Maitim and Kaybagal section will also soon connect to other Tagaytay barangays Luksuhin, Sikat, Zambal, Guinhawa, Patutong Malaki, Balagbag, and Salaban.
Once the project is completed, it will reduce the travel time between Alfonso and Tagaytay City to just 20 minutes. Currently, it takes at least 50 minutes.
Furthermore, the Tagaytay Bypass Road will feature a separate bike lane. This is in accordance to Department Order 88 series of 2020 that mandates all succeeding road and bridge projects in the country to have them. With biking in and near Metro Manila becoming more popular since the pandemic, this will prove useful to bikers coming from the Philippine capital.
Apart from Maitim and Kaybagal, DPWH is also finalising work on the 746-metre Balagbag section, the 1.32-kilometer Salaban section, the 590-meter Guinhawa section, and the 580-meter Patuto section.
