While I may take great pleasure in travelling, I know very well that my heart will always be at home. But despite my introverted tendencies, my occasional spontaneity gets me craving adventures. Whether it’s a quick weekend getaway or discovering a new coffee shop outside the metro, I’m down for it all! Although it’s not the same for all homebodies, it can be trickier if your bed is the only place you’d rather be. With this, I’ve gathered some easy so you can better enjoy exploring the outdoors!

Everything has a reason. I know, I know — you’ve probably heard that way too many times now. But in all seriousness, if you don’t have a reason for travelling, you’ll find it harder to actually find joy in it. Sit down with yourself and take some time to figure out what sorts of things interest you. Whether you’re into food, nature, sports, or the arts, knowing which places to explore and what activities to do will be much easier when you understand yourself. After all, different destinations cater to different types of travellers; you’ll be one step closer to finding just the right place for you if you know exactly what you want.
Choosing who to travel or go out with is a no-brainer for most people. Obviously, you’d want to be with people you’re comfortable with, like your family, best friends, or significant other. But what if you’re surrounded by fellow serial homebodies?
There are actually many other ways to go about this, such as setting yourself up for a solo adventure or joining group tours and excursions. This way, you’ll get to meet new people who might have similar travel interests as you. (Who knows, they might end up being your go-to travel buddies.) At the core of it all, there’s no “right way” to decide who to travel with. Sometimes, it’s all about finding like-minded individuals who share the same passion as you!
Personally, I think road trips are one of the best ways to enjoy travelling and being outdoors.
Apart from slowly easing yourself into grander travelling schemes, they inspire a deeper sense of connection and appreciation for your home country, among many other things. An even greater perk for homebodies: Exploring nearby destinations won’t cause you so much culture shock or homesickness. Plus, planning and preparing for trips like this won’t be too overwhelming!
As a self-proclaimed extroverted introvert, I also crave social interaction and spontaneous adventures from time to time. Going on short but frequent trips helps me balance out the curious wanderer and couch potato in me. Not only do I constantly look forward to the next trip, but short vacations also give me enough time to rest and have my much-needed space.
If you’re like me, you might find that this approach to travelling can help you better enjoy the great outdoors! But ultimately, it really depends on how wish to explore the destination of your choice.
You already have the means, done all the planning, and binge-watched enough travel vlogs for a dose of inspiration. What’s next? The most practical way to enjoy travelling and being outdoors is if you just do it. Or, in this case, just book it!
While being at home can provide the best sense of comfort for all of us homebodies, there’s a world out there waiting for us to explore and venture into! The best part? You’ll make more unforgettable memories with the people you love, and you’ll experience things no YouTube video or Netflix show can provide. Take travelling as the ultimate form of learning! In fact, this list of is already a great start.
