Once the exclusive summer residence of Philippine presidents, the Mansion House has long intrigued travellers who admired its stately façade from a distance. Now, following a recent transformation into a museum, visitors can finally step inside and delve into the rich history that has shaped this iconic landmark.

The Office of the President announced that the Mansion House will be open for tours from Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm. What’s even better? Admission is completely free! This move is set to enhance the visitor experience, allowing everyone to explore and capture the Mansion House’s beauty first hand.

The museum’s grand opening ceremony was led by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, who highlighted the educational significance of the museum. “Knowing our history and culture is essential for coming together as a nation,” she stated, emphasising the museum's role in fostering a deeper understanding of Philippine heritage.

According to Malacañang’s Social Secretary, Bianca Zobel, the decision to open the Mansion House to the public was driven by its popularity as a photo spot. The Mansion House attracts around 500 visitors daily and up to 2,000 on weekends. To accommodate the crowds, the museum offers both advance bookings through its website (museums.gov.ph) and official social media channels, as well as walk-in tours. Department of Tourism Secretary Christina G. Frasco noted that the museum’s opening is expected to boost local tourism and stimulate Baguio’s economy. “This will inevitably help our local economy with the tourists that will be coming in,” Frasco remarked. “It will also benefit local suppliers and instil a sense of national pride, especially among the youth.”

Located on Romulo Drive, directly across from Wright Park, the Mansion House was originally built in 1908 as the summer residence for the American Governor-General of the Philippines. The recent renovation has turned it into a showcase of presidential artefacts, including portraits, ceremonial attire, and memorabilia from past leaders, such as campaign items from President Bongbong Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte. Visitors can also explore portraits of Philippine First Ladies and learn about the country’s rich presidential history.
