If you're looking for a unique travel experience in Metro Manila, Victory Liner has something special in store. From 7–12 Sep 2024, the iconic bus company is offering free rides aboard their vintage Jardinera buses, transporting passengers along two key routes to Pasay City's SM Mall of Asia.

This is more than just a free ride — it’s a journey back in time. The Jardinera buses, originally used in the mid-20th century to transport agricultural goods, were later converted into Victory Liner’s first passenger vehicles. They are an open-air design with wooden seats, no doors, and no centre aisle — giving passengers a glimpse into the past while commuting through some of the busiest roads in Metro Manila.
Routes and Schedules
The will follow these routes:
7–9 Sep 2024: EDSA to SM Mall of Asia
10–12 Sep 2024: Buendia to SM Mall of Asia
Buses will operate during two time slots each day: from 7am to 11am, and 1pm to 5pm. The initiative is a collaboration between Victory Liner, the Pasay City Government, and the Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO), but the rides are open to the public, giving everyone the opportunity to hop aboard.
A Nostalgic Ride
The Jardinera bus, also referred to as a "Toastrack" or "Charabanc," has its design roots in 19th century France. Victory Liner first used these buses to serve the Manila-Olongapo route shortly after World War II, in 1945. Although the buses look delightfully old-fashioned, Victory Liner has ensured they meet modern safety standards through a collaboration with Del Monte Motors.
This is not the first time Victory Liner has revived their historic Jardinera fleet. The bus company also brought them out for their 78th anniversary celebration in 2023, running special routes in Pangasinan and Baguio to commemorate the company's rich history.
