Our favourite places to stay on this sleepy Cebu island.
Coffee addicts, have you heard? On 28 October 2020, an account by the name of Blue Bottle Coffee Manila (@bluebottlecoffeemanila) emerged on Instagram. So far, they’ve only posted one photo captioned “Brewing In Time for the Holidays This 2020 ☕️”. Since then, fans of the US-based speciality coffee roaster have all been wondering the same thing: Is this legit?
Update: As of late morning on 29 Oct, the account has been taken down.
A household name to coffee lovers around the globe, Blue Bottle Coffee first opened its doors in Oakland, California in 2002. Fast forward 18 years later, and they’ve got almost 100 stores operating across the US and Asia. Asian branches include their cafés in Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, and their latest store opened in Hong Kong in May 2020.
So, what are the chances that Blue Bottle Coffee would be opening an actual store in Manila — and in the middle of a pandemic? We aren’t entirely sure! This Instagram post is the first we’re hearing of this, as no announcements have been made on the official Blue Bottle Coffee pages. But of course, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that it’s the real deal.
Blue Bottle does sell their own beans, bottled and canned drinks, coffee apparatus, and branded merchandise — allowing us to believe that at the very least, these would be made available in the metro. And hey, beggars can’t be choosers. As Blue Bottle Coffee fans, we’ll take what we can get!
