The premium point-to-point (P2P) bus service has remained a popular transportation mode ever since 2015. The staggering growth behind this impressive system made commutes all across the metro much more convenient. At the centre of this efficiency are units of the Community Optimized Managed Electric Transport (COMET) bus. With an imminent increase in the vehicle’s deployment, it may be wise to learn more about how they will work.

The COMET bus started operating in 2022, launching its services with the SM Electric Bus. It operated at a premium, with a route from SM Fairview to SM Megamall. Since their successful launch, they began adding more routes, with their newest from Makati to Parañaque. They will also be opening a route from Filinvest in Alabang, which goes all the way to Batangas!

There are certain things to learn before stepping inside a COMET bus. But they’re very easy to remember, so don’t worry! These express buses run on strict schedules, so plotting ahead of time for travelling will definitely make all the difference. Accommodations inside the bus can fit 30 people, which is still pretty spacious. These vehicles run on lithium batteries alone, and the AC can get quite cold, so be prepared!
Don’t like bringing cash when commuting? That is now possible when riding the COMET bus through the GETPass App. The app will generate a corresponding QR code for the bus route. Scanning the code will deduct membership tokens from the app. Topping up is easy as well, since buying through GCash and Shoppee is a breeze.

With all these new buses, going through Metro Manila should be much faster and sharper. Not only are trips made more comfortable, but they are also much more manageable. Try out commuting with these high-end buses to feel the difference!
