Our favourite places to stay on this sleepy Cebu island.
We’ve heard it countless times in the past months. But in case it needs reiterating, going local is the best way to travel amid and post-pandemic. And with summer slowly hoving into view, we can’t think of a better mode of transport than a good, reliable ferry that will take us to top summer destinations in the Philippines on a budget. We’re talking an all-in price of just ₱799 courtesy of the Philippines’ largest sea travel provider!
With its first major sale of 2021, 2GO Travel will bring travellers to Boracay, Palawan, Cebu, and other destinations that have reopened for domestic tourism. It’s a fantastic way to explore the country while also helping the local travel industry slowly recover from the pandemic.

Now open for booking until 10 Jan 2021, the latest 2GO sale offers scheduled ferry trips from 1 Feb 2021 to as far as 30 Jun 2021. The rates start from ₱799, which is available for trips from Batangas to Caticlan and Roxas. For ₱899, you can travel by sea from Manila to Bacolod, Cebu, Coron, Dumaguete, Iloilo, and Puerto Princesa.
There are also trips for Manila to Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Ozamis, and Zamboanga priced at only ₱1,199. This rate, along with those of the latter routes, already includes a one-way ticket, onboard accommodation, 50 kilograms worth of baggage allowance, meals, and insurance. Most importantly, given the unpredictability of travel protocols, you can rebook your ticket subject to fare difference and applicable fees.
The published fares likewise do not cover the service fee and are non-refundable.

Before departure, be sure to download the Traze contact tracing app and submit health declaration forms, along with other documents required by your destination. 2GO also requires all its passengers to present a negative RT-PCR test result. For this, you can apply for a 50% subsidy from the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines here.
