One of Seoul’s most iconic landmarks is set to offer Gyeongbokgung Palace night tours once again, allowing visitors to experience the historic beauty of this royal site under the stars. Launched 9 Sep 2024, the main palace of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), located in central Seoul, will welcome visitors for evening strolls through some of its most significant areas. This unique opportunity lets travellers explore a more tranquil side of the palace, away from the daytime crowds.

Typically, Gyeongbokgung closes to the public by 6.30pm with regular tickets, but with special nighttime passes, visitors can tour selected sections of the palace from 7pm to 9.30pm. These tours will grant access to Heungryemun, Geunjeongjeon, and Sajeongjeon — the same royal halls where important events took place during the Joseon era. Illuminated by soft lighting, these historic structures provide a stunning backdrop for an evening stroll, offering a peaceful, immersive glimpse into Korea’s rich past.
Tickets for the nighttime tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis through Interpark Ticket, starting at 10am each Wednesday. Each person can purchase up to four tickets online, but on-site sales are also available, exclusively for foreign visitors who present valid identification proving foreign nationality. On-site ticket buyers can purchase up to two tickets per person per day. In total, 3,300 tickets will be available daily — 3,000 of which will be sold online and 300 reserved for on-site purchases.
Nighttime tickets are priced at a reasonable ₱128, making the experience affordable for all. Even better, visitors wearing traditional Korean hanbok, as well as children under six and seniors over 65, can enjoy free entry, regardless of nationality. The Gyeongbokgung Palace night tours will continue until 27 Oct 2024, but note that the palace will be closed for nighttime visits every Monday and Tuesday, as well as on 9 Oct 2024.
