However, we also know by now that celebrating Valentine’s Day means dealing with heavy traffic, long lines, fully booked restaurants — not to mention COVID-19. So, I recommend doing something that you don’t usually do!

Be silly together and channel your inner children by playing games that will remind you both of your favourite childhood memories. You may also want to prepare some fun and unexpected prizes that both of you will enjoy. 

I understand that not everyone has already found the love of their life — and that’s more than okay! Your time will come. For now, you can enjoy this date with your family and friends, and treat yourselves to a night filled with laughter and excitement!

2. Organise a picnic date

Have you been scrolling Pinterest and seeing a lot of picnic ideas? Picnic dates are becoming a trend these days, and this may be the best time for you to give this a try. If you want to put together an outdoor celebration without having to risk your safety, you definitely can do this in the comfort of your own backyard! 

Feel the cold breeze and watch the beautiful sunset without leaving your home. All you’ll need is a blanket, a glass of wine, and a basket of snacks. If you’re a heavy eater like me, pizza, fries, and tacos would be a great idea! 

You may also want to bring your favourite books and discuss what you believe are the best scenarios (or the most annoying characters — LOL!). Lastly, don’t forget to wear your best outfit and take Instagram-worthy photos!

Who doesn’t love movie nights? You’ve probably heard this a lot of times, or some of you might already have done this, but Netflix and chill is still a pretty good home date idea! It’s easy and affordable; you can do it in your room, backyard, or even in your car.

Make it a little extra by setting up a projector to create the vibe of a movie theatre; maybe add some spice by popping open a bottle of wine. And of course, what’s a movie night without freshly popped popcorn? 

You may think it might end up like a typical old movie night, but fret not: You can still prepare ahead of time to make the most of it! You can lay out and print a movie ticket listing all the shows and movies you want to watch, then use this as a cute invitation.

Plus, you can organise a small snack bar in the corner and put all your favourite snacks together. This preparation doesn’t have to be a one-man job — include your partner throughout the process, so both of you have something to look forward to!

4. Prepare a samgyupsal or barbeque night

A simple barbeque night with your favourite person is more than enough to make your Valentine’s Day extra special. Of course, what’s a BBQ night without some cold beer and a lot of side dishes? If you’re into music, it might also be great to bring out your guitar and hold a mini-concert together!

Honestly speaking, barbeque night is my personal bet among the list of home date ideas. I’ve done this a lot of times with family, friends, and even a special someone. Each BBQ was filled with moments I still treasure — especially the unusual conversations or topics that I would only hear in this particular setting.

Oh, and a little reminder: Wear a comfortable outfit and apply mosquito repellent to fully enjoy the evening — or else you might end your barbeque night earlier than expected!

5. Have a DIY fancy dinner
