When you think of the Philippines, what comes to mind? Pristine beaches? Lush rice terraces? How about one of the largest pineapple plantations in the world? That’s right—hidden in the cool highlands of Bukidnon is a sprawling sea of pineapples, stretching farther than the eye can see.
Welcome to the Del Monte Pineapple Plantation, a place where pineapples rule and where one of the world’s biggest fruit companies grows its famous produce. If you’ve ever had a sip of Del Monte pineapple juice or thrown chunks of their canned pineapples into your homemade Hawaiian pizza, chances are, they came from this very plantation.

Located in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, this plantation covers a whopping 25,000 hectares, making it the largest pineapple farm in the Philippines and one of the biggest in the world. That’s bigger than all of Makati City combined! But this isn’t just about size—Del Monte Philippines has been growing pineapples here since the 1920s, making it one of the oldest and most established pineapple farms in the country.
What makes Bukidnon ideal for pineapple farming? Its high altitude, cool climate, and fertile soil create the perfect conditions for growing high-quality pineapples. These factors contribute to the fruit’s sweet, juicy flavour—a signature taste that has made Del Monte a household name.

While the main pineapple fields are closed to the public, just driving through the area is an experience in itself. You’ll see endless rows of pineapples neatly planted in vast fields, looking like an organised army of spiky green soldiers.
One of the best stops nearby is the Del Monte Clubhouse, a hidden gem within the Camp Phillips area. It’s famous for its pineapple-fed beef steak, a must-try dish that’s extra tender and flavourful, thanks to the pineapples in the cows' diet. The clubhouse also serves classic Filipino comfort food, best enjoyed with fresh pineapple juice straight from the source.
For those who love adventure, Dahilayan Adventure Park is just a short drive away. Here, you can ride Asia’s longest dual zipline and soar over Bukidnon’s breathtaking landscapes—because why just look at the pineapple fields when you can fly over them?

While Del Monte dominates Bukidnon, Dole Philippines has its own pineapple empire down south in Polomolok, South Cotabato. This plantation is another major player in the global pineapple industry, producing fresh and processed pineapples for international markets. If you ever find yourself in South Cotabato, don’t be surprised if you see another sea of pineapples stretching to the horizon.

If you’re curious to see this pineapple wonderland, the best way to experience it is through a road trip around Bukidnon. The plantation itself isn’t open for regular tours, but you can still enjoy the scenic drive, visit Camp Phillips, and grab a meal at the Del Monte Clubhouse. The best time to visit is during the dry season (November to May), when the skies are clear and the views are picture-perfect.
So, the next time you crack open a can of pineapple chunks or sip on a glass of juice, remember—there’s a good chance those pineapples came from right here in the Philippines. Who knew that something so simple could have such a rich history and a stunning home?
