The DPWH announced that the closure is necessary to replace 19 damaged expansion joints on the flyover. Repair works will begin on the westbound lane heading towards Legarda, with half of the lane temporarily closed. Once completed, the eastbound lanes will undergo the same process.
Due to its strategic location at the junction of Legarda Street and Magsaysay Boulevard, the Legarda Flyover is a major thoroughfare in Manila. The closure is expected to cause traffic congestion around key areas such as the University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University, and the LRT-1 Central Terminal Station.
The DPWH advises motorists to plan their routes carefully and consider alternative transportation options during the repair period. It’s also important to note that this is just one of several flyover repair projects underway in Metro Manila as part of the government’s preparation for a potential major earthquake.
With multiple flyover repairs happening simultaneously, motorists can expect heavy traffic in various parts of the city. It’s essential to stay updated on traffic conditions and adjust your travel plans accordingly.
