Great news for culture and history enthusiasts! The (NMP) has announced that it is now open every day, making it even easier for visitors to explore the country’s rich heritage. Operating from 9am to 6pm, this exciting change applies to the NMP Central Complex in Manila and its regional component museums nationwide. Best of all, admission remains completely free, reinforcing the museum’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
“Universal access has always been our priority,” the museum shared in its New Year’s Day announcement on Facebook. “By opening our museums every day and maintaining free admission, we aim to make our programs and services even more accessible to everybody.”
The National Museum is a treasure trove of Filipino art, history, and natural science. Its galleries are home to preserved artworks, cultural artifacts, and specimens that reflect the diverse and unique heritage of the Filipino people. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a long-time fan, there is always something new to discover.
A recent highlight at the museum is the display of Jose Rizal’s iconic Josephine Sleeping sculpture. Acquired at an auction for an impressive ₱31.2 million, this masterpiece was unveiled during the 128th Rizal Day celebration on December 30. The museum’s Inspiring the Nation, Dr. Jose Rizal: The National Hero in Art exhibit in Gallery V of the National Museum of Fine Arts also features other significant artworks by the national hero. These pieces offer visitors a unique glimpse into Rizal’s creative mind and artistic legacy.
The NMP’s regional museums add another layer of accessibility for those outside Metro Manila. These facilities allow visitors across the Philippines to connect with the country’s natural and cultural heritage without needing to travel far.
