Sapinit Road: The Little Baguio of Rizal in Antipolo

Pine trees line the zigzag path of Sapinit Road, aptly hailed as “the Little Baguio of Rizal.” But beyond these evergreens, there’s hardly anything else you can find here. That’s the beauty it holds, its visitors say.

Zei Garcia, the traveller behind South Girl Anywhere, learned about Sapinit Road through Facebook. “When I saw posts about this place, I thought that this isn’t only for families but for anyone to enjoy,”  she tells TripZilla Philippines.

What to do in Sapinit Road

Visiting Sapinit Road means learning to enjoy an expanse of nothingness. In this regard, this is probably exactly what we need right now. As for Zei, she savoured Sapinit Road just as any other traveller would: She tagged her cousin as a travel buddy, brought takeout food, parked by the roadside, took photos, and relished in the breathtaking views.

“Sapinit Road is really the Little Baguio of Rizal with its cinematic view of the pine trees,” she says. “It’s a breath of fresh air and it’s really close to the Metro.”

Zei recommends visiting the place with a picnic mat and your favourite food. She also reminds travellers to CLAYGO.

Travellers don’t need to worry about entrance or parking fees when visiting Sapinit Road. As of writing, everyone is free to enjoy a picnic, go on a walk or a jog, or even bike across the path.

If, however, you’re game for something more exciting, then you can also try out ATV Adventures Rizal. The off-road adventure treats travellers to muddy trails, swift rivers, and a close-up of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Its office sits at the junction of Sapinit Road and Pintong Bukawe.

How to visit the Little Baguio of Rizal

Approximately an hour away from Metro Manila, Sapinit Road is effortless to find. On Waze, you can simply pin Sapinit Road, Antipolo, Calabarzon.

If you’re taking public transportation, take a jeep bound for Cogeo Gate 2 and alight at its jeepney terminal. From there, head to Puregold Extra to hail a passing jeep bound for Boso Boso (₱25). Ride a tricycle (usually parked underneath the arch of the Upper Marikina River) and get off at Sitio Sapinit (₱20 per head or ₱60 for a special trip).
