Soon, Pinoys Can Order Milk Tea from This Local Pizza Parlor Chain

Pizza and milk tea? Not the typical combo one would hope for; but you have to admit, it does sound promising! Having recently signed an agreement with one of Singapore’s leading milk tea brand operators, Shakey’s Pizza Ventures, Inc. (SPAVI) will soon make a ‘Shakey’s milk tea’ happen for Filipinos.

In an announcement on 24 Aug 2020, SPAVI — the company behind one of the top pizza parlor chains in the Philippines — said that it will have the rights to sell Singapore’s R&B milk tea in the country. When this happens, Filipinos can order the famed milk tea and other drinks from stand-alone stores and select Shakey’s (as well as Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken) restaurants through what is known as a co-branding strategy.

“We are excited to bring our high growth tea concept brands to a new market, the Philippines, with Manila as our initial landing point,” Koufu executive chairman and CEO Pang Lim said. With Filipinos’ ‘growing receptiveness’ towards the milk tea trend, he shared that the Philippines offers favourable conditions for the initiative.

Shakey’s president and CEO Vicente Gregoria likewise said that he looks forward to ‘wow-ing’ their customers with the premium quality Shakey’s milk tea and other R&B beverage offerings. The brand has over 1,000 outlets globally and can also be seen in other Asian countries like China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
