The only plastic we need for travel.
Spotify, together with ESPN and Netflix, recently launched two curated playlists tied to The Last Dance! This docuseries has been the talk of the town — especially among avid basketball fans — since it premiered late in April. It chronicles the career of Michael Jordan, particularly the Chicago Bulls season from 1997 to 1998.
Aside from the story itself, the music in the series has been gaining a lot of buzz, too! This is mostly thanks to the series’ music supervisor, Rudy Chung — who is also behind the music of hit TV shows like Silicon Valley and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Now, you can access two exclusive Spotify playlists: one with music, and the other with podcasts.
The Last Dance playlist features curated music from and inspired by the docuseries. It includes hit tunes like LL Cool J’s “I’m Bad”, Prince’s “Partyman,” and The Alan Parson Project’s “Sirius” — a.k.a. the Chicago Bulls Theme Song.
“In putting together the music our main concern was having the songs help tell the story for each episode. But we’re thrilled fans have responded to the soundtrack as a standalone. Hopefully, younger fans will have gained a newfound appreciation of not only MJ but also the great music from his era,” said Chung.
Meanwhile, the After The Last Dance playlist features podcasts that discuss the show further, giving streamers a closer look. It’s updated once a week, so keep an ear out for new additions! This is part of Spotify’s new podcast playlists that are designed to help listeners find their next favourite show.
“The tracks are an ode to the music that defined the ’90s. These were specially curated for streamers to discover and experience the culture of this influential time,” said Carl Chery, Creative Director and Head of Urban Music at Spotify.
