If the COVID-19 pandemic got in the way of your plans to visit Taiwan, then we’ve got good news for you: Philippine passport holders can still enjoy visa-free entry until 31 Jul 2022. According to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced the one-year extension on 20 Jul 2021.
Among those included in the one-year extension of trial visa-free entry to Taiwan are nationals from the Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, and Russia. Along with this, Taiwan will also continue their Project for Simplifying Visa Regulations for High-end Group Tourists from Southeast Asian countries until 31 Dec 2022.

While visa-free entry for Filipinos is extended for another year, the same conditions for entry via this programme still hold. Click here to review the requirements for visa-free travel to Taiwan, according to TECO.
At the time of writing, Taiwan’s travel restrictions in light of COVID-19 still remain in place. This being said, the country’s borders have yet to reopen for leisure travel. Keep following TECO’s official Facebook page for updates.

While we may not be able to travel to Taiwan just yet, it brings us comfort to know that we can hopefully still make our travel plans happen in 2022. For now, keep following health protocols, get vaccinated, and stay safe. May we finally get to enjoy our visa-free travel privileges soon!
