On 28 Jul 2024, the Baguio City Public Information Office released the specifications of the proposed intermodal terminal along Marcos Highway. The modern transport hub will be a multi-story facility designed to cater to provincial buses from outside Baguio and serve as a passenger transfer terminal for those entering the city. Key features include:
Dedicated Loading and Unloading Bays: Separate areas for provincial and in-city transport to streamline passenger flow.
Staging Areas: Facilities for vehicle repair and cleaning.
Drivers' Lounge and Canteen: Comfortable rest areas for drivers.
Electronic Vehicle Charging Stations: Supporting sustainable transport options.
Passenger Waiting Area: Equipped with retail and commercial offerings.
Public Parking: Park-and-ride services for added convenience.
Safety and Security: 24-hour systems to ensure passenger safety.
PWD-Inclusive Provisions: Accessible facilities for persons with disabilities.
Additional Amenities: Toilets, lactation stations, schedule information kiosks, ticket booths, customer services, free Wi-Fi, and baggage amenities.
The project's design will adhere to the Department of Transportation (DOTR)'s integrated terminal standards, ensuring it meets all necessary requirements for an efficient and user-friendly transport hub.
While the exact timeline for the terminal's completion is yet to be determined, the project will soon be presented to the multi-sectoral City Development Council for confirmation. Following this, it will be submitted to the City Council for approval and adoption of the terms of reference. Once these steps are completed, the project will be opened for a Swiss Challenge, allowing other private companies to submit their proposals as part of the PPP guidelines.
