Make Your Own Walk-In Pantry Like Filipina Mom Lorelin Feliciano-Sia

Once upon a time, a certain Ai and Sasha tandem broke the Internet when a hilarious video of them removing malunggay leaves was posted all over social media. There, one of them talked about having a walk-in closet so big, you’ll walk out of it realising you’re still inside the thing. Epic!

With clothes almost as important as food and daily necessities, the idea of a walk-in pantry now seems just as remarkable for Pinoys who spend most of their time indoors. This is exactly what Filipino mom Lorelin Feliciano-Sia did, when she came up with a pantry design that almost looks as good as the grocery stores you’d see in Japan because of how organised it is.

Walk-in pantry design idea

Sia, who’s also a baker, cake artist, and YouTuber, first posted about her beautifully organised pantry design in July 2020. Months later, photos of her space continue to be reshared online as more Filipinos look for ways to be creative with their own spaces beyond their bedrooms.

Sia’s walk-in pantry consists of light-coloured shelves, baskets, bottles, and boxes that really look like they were thoroughly selected so that the colours and shapes complement one another. Each item, from snacks and biscuits to canned goods, beverages, vegetables, and condiments, also has its own place depending on use, just like in actual grocery stores.

As if that’s not enough, she even puts labels on bigger containers to make them even more visible. For the rest, she simply places them inside the refrigerator. Even then, Sia makes sure to follow the same stacking techniques so they’re not as cluttered.

According to the Filipina mom, her first attempt at organising the pantry design took five hours. She then regularly rearranges the contents when she does her grocery hauls. The pantry itself is located just beside her dining area and is accessible via a sliding door. In one of her videos on YouTube, one of her daughters is also shown helping her stack the containers.

Aside from her pantry design, Sia applies similar organising methods to other parts of her house.
